"Catches win matches!"
That's the adage that been part of cricket folklore for years. If you have a decent opportunity to catch the ball get get the opposing batsman out - you better take it.
This year's Indian Premier League has been trundling along towards the Playoff stages which begin next week. On Thursday evening, Kings XI Punjab travelled to play Mumbai Indians with the away team looking to book their spot in the top-four.
Defending a total of 230, Kings XI were under pressure as Mumbai looked on course to reach the total. With 59 runs scored from 31 balls, Lendl Simmons looked most likely to be the one who led the Indians to victory.
Simmons looked on course to hit another 6, off the bowling off Glenn Maxwell, before New Zealand's Martin Guptill sensationally caught the ball on the boundary.
Guptill is over six-foot tall and lept into the Mumbai to catch Simmons' shot one-handed. Kings XI went on to win the match by seven runs.
Oh Martin Guptill, that is filthy. pic.twitter.com/QhMqHkR9bc
