Throwback Thursday: Everton's last win at Anfield

As this weekend's Merseyside derby approaches, only six points separate the two local rivals in a fixture which could prove pivotal to where each finishes this season.

Liverpool are in fourth place but have both Man United and Arsenal breathing down their necks with each having two games in hand.

Everton are just behind and a win at Anfield could bring them into an unlikely race for a coveted Champion League place.

The only problem is that the blue half of Liverpool haven't won at Anfield since 1999. Back then Kevin Campbell opened the scoring after four minutes and only 19 players finished the game.

Stephen Gerrard, Francis Jeffers and Sander Westerweld were all shown red cards and former Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton was handed the gloves and played in goal.

A nineteen year old  Michael Owen was also lucky to stay on the pitch as a fiery Monday night derby came as close to a battle as one might see on a football pitch.

Liverpool went on to  finish fourth and missed out on Champions League qualification after a surprise final day defeat to Bradford who avoided relegation as a result.

Everton went on to finish in 13th spot - 17 points behind their arch-rivals but still well clear of the relegation zone.

Liverpool v Everton kicks off at 12.30 this Saturday at Anfield.
