"There's Been A Rapid Decline In Performances" - Darren O'Dea

“When results don’t go well it always comes back onto the managers lap.”

Those are the words of former Celtic and Republic of Ireland defender Darren O’Dea as Martin O’Neill’s side lost their second UEFA Nations League game v Wales 1- 0 at the Aviva stadium in a disappointing display.

O’Dea feels it is not only the results that have been poor for the boys in green but the performances especially as Martin O’Neill’s men followed up a lacklustre draw with Denmark with a 1-0 loss to Wales. The former Ireland international doesn’t understand where the poor form is stemming from.

“There’s been a rapid decline in performances, obviously results but performances have been strange to say the least.”

“I always associated Martin O’Neill’s teams being on the front foot and energetic. Not exceptionally great in terms of how they build the play but high energy teams and exciting.”

“I would say that this Ireland team at the moment is the complete opposite of that. I disagree that we don’t have good players, I think we have got good players.”

Next up for Ireland is a friendly game in the Aviva v Northern Ireland on the 15th of November."
