A Jesse Lingard brace saved Manchester United’s blushes as United twice came from behind to snatch a draw at home to Burnley.
The Clarets came out all guns blazing and took an early lead thanks to an Ashley Barnes effort after sloppy defending from United. Steven Defour netted Burnley’s second goal with a stunning free-kick just minutes before the break as the clarets looked set to Inflict Manchester United’s first home St. Stephen’s Day defeat in 39 years.
United fought back with second half substitute Jesse Lingard bagging a brace that included a late equalizer for the Red Devils. Lingard deftly guided in a back heal from an Ashley Young cross to pull one back in the 53rd minute. The comeback was complete in injury time when Lingard fired in a lowly placed shot after Burnley’s defence failed to clear their lines on several occasions.
Harry Kane bagged his eight hat-trick of 2017 as Spurs destroyed Southhampton 5-2 in Wembley this afternoon. The Londoner also broke Alan Shearer’s record for most Premier league goals in a calendar year. Kane’s three strikes took his tally to 39 goals for the season, breaking the record in just 36 matches. Kane now has a total of 56 goals in just 52 games. He is Europe’s leading scorer.

Kane‘s hat-trick consisted of a header and two with his left-foot. Son Heung-min and Delle Alli added to the route but it was a day for Spurs talisman. The Londoner’s were 4-0 to the good when Mauricio Pellegrino’s men pulled back a brace with Sofiane Boufal and Dusan Tadic’s netting mere consolations for the men from the South coast of England.
Elsewhere Bournemouth and West Ham United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Dean Court with Callum Wilson snatching a late equalizer and a crucial point for the Cherries.
In the evening’s game Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool destroyed rock bottom Swansea 5-0 at Anfield with Roberto Fimino netting twice for the Liverpudlians. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Phillipe Coutinho also added to the rout for the reds.
