Luke Shaw gets his chance to impress Mourinho

Luke Shaw has been named in Manchester United's squad to face Bournemouth this Saturday.

The left-back has not featured in the Premier League since October after falling out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho.

Shaw has found it difficult to make his way into the first team and has only featured seven times since Mourinho took over.

The manager singled him out for criticism earlier in the season when United lost 3-1 at Watford.

After being singled out by Mourinho following the Watford match, Leeds and Ireland legend John Giles was critical of the manager for the public nature of his criticism, stating: "It's a well-known thing in football. You can say what you like in the dressing room to players but defend them publicly. I could see Shaw's face in the photograph and he's shocked. I don't think he's the most confident lad anyway."

In the summer of 2014, Shaw left Southampton and joined Manchester United for £30 million, making him the most expensive teenager in world football.

Shaw’s first season was steady but unfortunately for the young man his second season with the club was certainly one to forget.

In September 2015 in Manchester United’s opening game of the Champions League away to PSV, Shaw suffered a double leg fracture. He didn’t return to training until April 2016 after spending seven months on the sideline.
