Graeme McDowell is four shots off the lead coming into the final day at the Wells Fargo Championship, with Shane Lowry trailing just one stroke behind.
A brace of birdies on the back nine, along with further birdies on holes 3, 6, and 7, has left McDowell in a strong position to challenge the American leader Patrick Reed in the final round.
Meanwhile, Lowry has recovered from a disappointing 3-over 75 in the opening round, to climb over 100 places on the leaderboard, with a 3-under 68 in the third round.
Three birdies in the first four holes of the third round, culminated in him going to 4-under on two occasions on the back-nine. His form dipped slightly on the turn, and three bogeys saw him drop to 3-under.
After a promising start to the tournament, Seamus Power has faded away to five-over 77, to leave him on even par overall. The Olympian had a front-nine to forget, which included a double-bogey on the fourth hole, along with bogey shots either side.
Reed, who holds a one-stroke lead, is seeking a sixth PGA Tour title in the North Carolina tournament.
