Seamus Coleman donates €6,000 to Donegal child

Seamus Coleman has donated €6,000 to a young Donegal boy, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at just 10 weeks old.

Caolan Melaugh from Killygordan in Donegal, has been battling Neuroblastoma for the past two years. Over the course of 15 months, Melaugh has undergone chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiotherapy and six months of immunotherapy.

Donegal Daily reports that his medical expenses for treatment in America have exceeded €200,000. He now requires further medical help in the US and in order to raise the funds for the trip, his father Gerard McConnell set up a Go Fund Me Page last month.

Ireland international Seamus Coleman donated a substantial sum to the page along with a short message.

The fundraising efforts have already raised over €26,000 and that number is still climbing.
