Tipperary will be without key forward Seamus Callanan for this weekend's league final against Galway, after the 28-year-old suffered a broken thumb.
Callanan picked up the injury during Sunday's 5-18 to 1-19 win over Wexford, but is now not expected to return to the pitch for about a month.
Speaking to the Tipperary Star, Tipp boss Michael Ryan said the Drom & Inch man is disappointed to be missing out the chance to add to his list of honours.
"We have an important match next weekend and he is not going to be available, so he is frustrated," Ryan said.
"But I am fully aware that when you play a game you run that risk and we run the same risk every night in training."
He added: "There really is intense competition in the panel and this is going to create an opportunity - somebody is going to benefit from it. It is unfortunate, but it creates an opportunity - somebody is going to start instead of him."
He is expected to return ahead of the Munster quarter-final against Cork on May 21.
