Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin claim they will fight in September, after the former scored a unanimous decision victory over Julio Chavez Jr in Las Vegas last night.
Alvarez issued the fight invitation to Golovkin - who was sitting ringside in the T-Mobile Arena - within just a few minutes of winning every round on all three judges' scorecards.
The Mexican devastated Chazez with his speed, power and combination play, to leave the 31-year-old bleeding from his nose and his eye was swollen shut.
In his address to Golovkin, the WBO light middleweight champ said:
"Golovkin, you are next, my friend. Where are you? It's on."
Alvarez then invited the undefeated Golovkin into the ring, where both fighters confirmed on HBO television that the bout is scheduled to happen on September 16th.
Golovkin said:

""I feel very excited, right now is a different story. In September, it will be a different style, a big drama show. I'm ready. Good luck in September."
News of this proposed fight comes one week after Anthony Joshua prevailed against Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round in Wembley Arena, to inject some life back into the boxing scene.
