Donegal's Ryan McHugh has been ruled out for the remainder of his team's Allianz Football League campaign.
The 22 year old half forward faces three to four weeks on the sidelines as confirmed by Highland Radio after he underwent a scan on his ankle in Letterkenny.
The player has a tear on the tendon of his left ankle, sustained in Donegal's last league outing against Monaghan.
McHugh will definitely miss their final round match against Mayo on Sunday as well as any potential league final that will follow as that fixture is scheduled for April 9th.
Donegal are currently second in the National Football League Division One table on eight points, level with third place Monaghan and one behind leaders Dublin.
The Ulster Championship does not get underway for Rory Gallagher's side until Sunday, May 21st when they go up against Antrim in a quarter final clash.
