Munster and Ireland rugby legend Ronan O'Gara is to be awarded the Freedom of Cork this year.
The Lord Mayor of Cork, Des Cahill, confirmed the news on Twitter last night, stating that fellow members of the Cork City council accepted his proposal to give O'Gara the honour.
The Irish Examiner reports that all but two councillors supported the move, with a conferring ceremony expected to take place in May or June.

Thanks to the people of Cork who have always backed me. Proud of where I come from. Very humbled and honoured. ⚪ï¸ðŸ”´âšªï¸ðŸ”´ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ª.
