Roddy Collins looks set to make a return to League of Ireland management with Athlone Town.
Collins got the Midlands club promoted to the Premier Division during his previous one season stint in charge in 2013, and is expected to become their new permanent manager on Friday.
Portuguese coach Ricardo Cravo is currently in caretaker charge of Athlone - who are being investigated by the FAI for alleged match-fixing.
The club have made no official comment on the speculation.
Athlone have been subject of an investigation by UEFA, the FAI and Interpol. Last week, the FAI announced their investigation into the club in relation to "potential rule breaches" had widened.
