Report: Leinster interested in signing Wallabies legend

Leinster are interesting in signing Australian legend Adam Ashley-Cooper, reports claim.

The third-most capped Wallaby in the history of the Australian national team, Ashley-Cooper is out of contract with Bordeaux-Begles at the end of the season.

According to the Irish Independent, Leinster are interested in bringing the 32-year-old to The RDS. South African international Zane Kirchner is due to leave the province at the end of the season, opening up a place in Leinster's backs for a non-Irish player.

Making his debut in 2005, Ashley-Cooper played the majority of his games for Australia, as a domestic player, with spells playing for the both ACT Brumbies and the New South Wales Waratahs.

A three-time World Cup player, Ashley-Cooper was part of Australia's teams in 2007, 2011 and 2015. He played in the 2015 World Cup Final loss to New Zealand in London.

If Leinster are to sign Ashley-Cooper, they will have one of the most versatile top-class backs in World rugby. The Sydney native has played on both wings, inside and outside centre and full-back at both club and international level.

In his two seasons at Bordeaux-Begles, Ashley-Cooper has scored six tries in the Top 14, playing with the likes for former Leinster star Ian Madigan.
