Padraig Harrington faces decision over neck surgery

Three time major winner Padraig Harrington says he will wait until he has returned from a family holiday before he decides whether he needs to undergo neck surgery.

A nerve issue has contributed to the Dubliner missing four out of five cuts so far this year.

Harrington remains hopeful that his neck will improve enough that he won't have to go under the knife.

Writing in his Tour diary, the 45 year old explained: "The frustrating thing for me now is that I am not sure what awaits me. I am on holidays with my family this week and then when I get home I will get my neck looked at again and make the decision as to having an operation or not. Everything is up in the air for the next week or so. The really frustrating thing for me is that I hit the ball great on Friday and know that it is a case of working on my wedges and short game to improve my scoring, but for the moment I can't do anything."

Harrington's last tournament win came in October when he triumphed in the Portugal Masters. In mid-February he finished tied for 39th at the Genesis Open.
