Newstalk announces All-Star Panel for 2014 GAA Coverage

Newstalk 106-108 fm today launched its coverage of the 2014 GAA All-Ireland Senior Championships – revealing an all-star panel that will join the Newstalk’s Off the Ball team in delivering the best GAA coverage and analysis available on national radio.

Those giving their expert commentary and analysis of the 2014 GAA Football All-Ireland Championship will be former Dublin forward Tomás Quinn, Laois-man and Off the Ball team member Colm Parkinson, Meath legend Anthony Moyles, Galway’s Michael Meehan, Mayo legends Liam McHale and David Brady, Down’s Conor Deegan, former Kerry star Darragh O’Sé, Kildare hero Dermot Earley, and Billy Joe Padden.

Joining the team to give their views on the 2014 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Championship will be Wexford hurler and Off the Ball team member Diarmuid Lyng, Offaly legend Daithí Regan, and Clare’s Jamesie O’Connor.

Speaking at today’s launch, Ger Gilroy, Newstalk’s sports editor, said: “Every member of the Off the Ball team gets excited about this time of year. For the next few months, we’ll see tears of joy and utter heartbreak across the country, and Newstalk will be there to capture every piece of the action and reaction. Once again, we have secured an all-star panel that will help us to deliver the best GAA coverage around. With Off the Ball broadcasting seven days a week, along with live reports and commentary from Championship games, we will be breaking and analysing every development and controversial decision, before anyone else. Newstalk will also be hitting the road again this summer to bring Off the Ball to venues across the country, as part of our GAA roadshow. It will be an action-packed summer and we’re looking forward to every minute of it."

This is Newstalk’s fourth year delivering unparalleled coverage and analysis of the GAA Championships. Since the station was first awarded coverage rights, Newstalk has secured the best panellists and commentators – many of whom are current or recently retired players, giving first-hand accounts of what unfolds behind the scenes and in the dressing rooms.

Newstalk’s 2014 GAA coverage will include the Leinster Hurling Final, the Connacht and Ulster Football Final, along with All-Ireland Football and Hurling Quarter Finals. The Off the Ball team will also be on-hand to report the latest developments from every fixture throughout the summer.
