NFL allowing players to celebrate once more

Touchdown celebrations in the NFL have been toned down in recent years.

Players have been forced into minimising celebrating scoring touchdowns due to strict end-zone rules last season. The rule was only in place for a single season, with fans beginning to call the NFL to the No Fun League.

Earlier this week, the NFL revealed that they were to allow players to creatively celebrate once more. Some teams were delighted with the news.

"We know that you love the spontaneous displays of emotion that come after a spectacular touchdown", NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "And players have told us they want more freedom to be able to express themselves and celebrate their athletic achievements."

While Goodell has eased the rule, and will allow players use the ball as a prop, along with letting teammates join in a group celebration, there is still things that will not be allowed.

"In my conversations with NFL players, it was also clear how much our players care about sportsmanship, clean competition, and setting good examples for young athletes", Goodell continued. "That is why offensive demonstrations, celebrations that are prolonged and delay the game, and those directed at an opponent, will still be penalised."

In The MMQB, it was revealed that 26 players were cautioned and fined last season. Those fines and cautions will now be rescinded.
