Newcastle United head coach Rafa Benitez says there is no guarantee right now that he will stay at the club but does expect his future to be sorted out soon.
The Spaniard led his team back to the Premier League at the first attempt, securing one of the top two places in the Championship, with victory against Preston North End on Monday and he had been coy about his future when speaking immediately after that match: "You never know, that is football."
The former Liverpool, Valencia and Real Madrid manager says he needs more talks with owner Mike Ashley as the club makes its plans for the transfer window and next season.
"I am quite confident that everything will be fine, but my focus is on these games," said Benitez, referencing the remaining Championship fixtures against Cardiff City away and Barnsley at home on April 28th and May 7th respectively.
"I need to talk with Mike and then it depends on how things are going, we will be more optimistic or however. At the moment I am quite happy."
