Michael Hoey shares lead in Sicily

Michael Hoey has continued his fine form at the Forte Rocco Open in Sicily.

After carding a round of 61 on Thursday in his opening round, he followed that up with a 68 on Day 2 to climb up to 13-under.

That leaves the Northern Irishman in a share of the lead with Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg, who also started the second round on 10-under.

However, the Swedish golfer is still out on course, having played 15 of his 18 holes so far.

The leading duo are a shot clear of South Africa's Zander Lombard and England's David Horsey.

Hoey, meanwhile, carded his first bogeys at the tournament on the 3rd, 4th and 18th holes.

But he managed six birdies with four of those coming on the front nine.

Among those birdies was the 2nd, 9th, 11th and 17th holes which he birdied for the second day in succession.

Fellow Irishman Gary Hurley is has climbed to 9-under after an excellent second day.

The Waterford man had started on 4-under but carded a 66, with all five of his birdies coming on the front nine, and levelling each of his holes on the back nine.

Hurley remains well inside the projected cut mark heading into the weekend's action.
