Mesut Ozil details story of old row with Mourinho

Mesut Ozil is a footballer who does divide opinion.

An exquisite passer of the ball and prolific provider of assists, he can frustrate in equal measure with his body language and languid style.

The Arsenal playmaker has a new autobiography on the way and as tradition dictates, some of the juicier stories are being serialised.

In the Germany World Cup winner's case, Bild in his native land are tasked with the serialisation and one anecdote making the headlines relates to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Ozil and Mourinho worked together at Real Madrid where they won the 2011-12 La Liga title and 2010-11 Copa del Rey during an increasingly fractious spell for the club.

In the book, Ozil recounts one row he had with Mourinho which saw the ex-Chelsea manager have a go at him.

According to the German, Mourinho said to him once: "You think two beautiful passes are enough. You think you’re so good that 50% is enough.

"[Mourinho] pauses. Stares at me with his dark brown eyes. I stare back. Like two boxers at the stare-down before the first round. He shows no emotion. Just waits for a response from me. How much I hate him right now. And I love Mourinho actually."

Ozil then proceeds to throw his own jersey to the floor in anger which prompts Mourinho to state: "Oh, are you giving up now? You're such a coward. What do you want? To creep under the beautiful, warm shower? Shampoo your hair? To be alone? Or do you want to prove to your fellow players, the fans out there, and me, what you can do."
