Max Holloway: Conor McGregor can come see me when he's ready

Max Holloway has been on a tear ever since dropping a unanimous decision to Conor McGregor in Boston in 2013.

The Hawaiian rebounded from his loss to the Dubliner in spectacular fashion, winning 10 fights in a row.

His victims have included top-ranked featherweights Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens, Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Pettis.

Victory over the latter gave him his first piece of UFC gold; the interim featherweight title. He is due to unify the titles with Jose Aldo in the main event at UFC 212.

However, a rematch with UFC lightweight champion is never far from his mind.

Speaking on the MMAHour, he said: "I keep saying 'everybody knows who the money fight is and everyone is begging for it' but at the end of the day, Conor is going to fight whoever he wants to fight.

"So I'm not going to beg that guy for a fight. It's just one more guy on his knees trying to ask for a fight. I don't care, I'm going to become my own damn money fight, as I said. And if Conor wants to fight, he wants to fight.

"He knows if he ever comes back to '45 (145 lbs), he knows who his toughest fight down here is. He knows he can come see me when he's ready. And other than that, it is what it is," he added.

McGregor dominated Holloway when they first fought, clearly winning the stand-up battle from the off.

The Dubliner had to change tact midway through the second round after he injured his knee, and took his opponent to the mat to secure his second successive win in the UFC.

He required surgery after the bout and didn't return to action until he headlined UFC Dublin in July, 2014.
