Massimo Cellino confirms Leeds United departure

"If you can survive working with me, you can survive anything!"

Those were the words of Massimo Cellino on announcing his time at Leeds United had come to an end. The Italian businessman took charge of the club in 2014, but it was announced on Tuesday that the remaining 50% stake he had in the club was bought out by compatriot Andrea Radrizzani.

Cellino's reign at Elland Road was made famous by a raft of managerial changes. The former Cagliari owner made eight managerial changes in his time at the club.

Former Swansea city manager Garry Monk was his last managerial appointment last summer. Monk is now set to sign a 12-month extension under the new ownership.

Cellino's time at the club began to end earlier this year when Radrizzani bought his stake in early January. The 42-year-old Milan native made his fortune in a global investment company.

In a statement released by Radrizzani announcing his takeover of the club, he thanked Cellino for his work at Leeds in recent years.

"Massimo acquired a club in a difficult financial situation but he has created a sound platform for me to take Leeds United forward into a new era. On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Massimo for his support and I wish him well for the future."

Cellino's spell at Leeds will be a brief one when the history books are written, but he left a lasting and memorable legacy.

"Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans", Cellino concluded. "Keep Marching on Together."
