Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Portugal international Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco.
After speculation that a deal was imminent earlier on Friday, the Premier League club announced that they had signed the player.
It is believed that the transfer sets City back almost €50 million.
The 22 year old Lisbon native has been one of the most sought after young players in Europe.
The attacking midfielder shone at AS Monaco this season en route to winning the Ligue 1 title and reaching the Champions League semi finals.
Silva, who started his career at hometown giants Benfica, has won 12 caps for Portugal, although he missed their Euro 2016 victory through injury.
Silva cited Man City manager Pep Guardiola as one of the reasons he has chosen to join the club.
He told the official club website: "If he is not the best coach in the world, he is one of the best. Of course when you have the opportunity of being trained by Guardiola, you don’t say no.
"As we all know, what he did with Barcelona and Bayern Munich was amazing and we expect also here that he will win titles. It’s great to have the chance to work with him and to have this opportunity.
"Nowadays if you don’t work hard, even if you’re one of the best you don’t succeed. It’s not only defenders who have to defend or attackers who have to attack. It’s a team and we all have to do everything."
