Knee injury may end Kevin Durant's season

Golden State Warriors lost 112-108 overnight to Washington Wizards, but a bad night was made worse with the news that Kevin Durant could be out injured for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old injured his left knee in the loss. Originally diagnosed as a hyper-extension, reports in America claim the eight-time All-Star may not play again this season.

Golden State Warriors are currently the top seeds in the Western Conference, and will begin their Playoff campaign in mid-April, giving Durant a six-week window to return before the start of the post-season.

Durant joined the team from the Oklahoma City Thunder at the start of the season, in one of the most high-profile moves in American sports in recent years. The two-time Olympic gold medallist has settled in quickly into the team, which already included stars like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Before leaving the court injured in his hometown of Washington, Durant was only on the court for two minutes. He didn't score and only had one unsuccessful shot.

Even without Durant, the Warriors would be expected to go far in the Playoffs, but the potential loss of the former MVP would be a massive blow to Steve Kerr's side.
