Former Republic of Ireland international Kenny Cunningham joined Saturday's Off the Ball to review the day's Premier League action.
Tottenham Hotspur were on course for a comfortable win against London rivals West Ham at the London Stadium after two goals from Harry Kane along with a precise finish from Christian Eriksen which put the visitors 3-0 up.
Serge Aurier received a red card in the second half which put his side under enormous pressure with the home side bringing it back to 3-2, with goals from Javier Hernandez and Cheikhou Kouyate. However, Spurs held on for the win to collect all three points.
Speaking to Nathan Murphy about the game, Cunningham said: "I watched the early game, the live game - West Ham against Spurs. The stand-out moment was possibly the sending-off of Aurier, Serge Aurier, the new Spurs right back.
"It was interesting watching him playing. I watched a bit of Champions League. Obviously they spent a significant amount of money on him with Kyle Walker's departure and it was an interesting debut to say the least.
"He's a great athlete, very explosive player, quick, but he's got to improve other aspects of his game - his positional sense and his decision making because he got himself a poor red card today.
"I actually thought the manager should have taken him off before - he could kind of see it coming so he put his team under immense pressure with the sending-off and allowed West Ham a pathway back into the game which they took and it set up for a really enjoyable finish.
As about his weaknesses and what he needs to improve, the former Birmingham City player said: "I think just positional sense. He's getting himself a little too high up the pitch too soon. His recovery is fantastic. He looks physically really impressive - quick over the ground, short and long distances so he has some good attributes, there's no doubt about it. It's just the more subtle aspects of defending he needs to improve on.
"I don't think it's a huge problem for Spurs because for me, in Kieran Trippier, they probably have a better right back," he added.
