Keith Wood: "I thought Carbery was excellent throughout"

Former Ireland captain Keith Wood was disappointed with certain elements of Munster's 36-22 win over Gloucester in the Heineken Champion Cup on Saturday.

The home side secured the bonus point victory in Limerick and their task was made considerably easier after Danny Ciprani was sent off for a high tackle in the 28th minute.

However, Johann van Graan's side appeared to drop their intensity levels when the match was all but won and Wood wasn't impressed with what he saw.

Speaking on Off the Ball just after the final whistle, he said: "For me, it's an unsatisfying day. I think Munster have gotten the win, which is very important and they stopped Gloucester getting a bonus point, which is very important. I'm very worried about the injury we have just seen to Dan Goggin. The stretcher is down beside him.

"Tommy O'Donnell went off with what could have been a broken ankle - we don't know. He was in obvious discomfort. So, two players gone out of a team that doesn't exactly have a huge sense of depth

"I'm disappointed with the attitude for 15 or 20 minutes. The game was won and that step off - you just can't do that in this competition.

"I think they got away with it and I hope that they learn heavily from it. If they can use that as a cautionary tale: 'Look, we have to keep our focus entirely up to speed for the whole lot' then that's important.

"There was some great play. I thought when Alby Mathewson came on - I thought he was excellent. I thought Carbery was excellent throughout. Some of the forwards had really fine games," he added.

Munster welcome Castrés to Thomond Park in the third round of matches on the 9th December.
