Griezmann tells Atletico he wants to leave

It has been reported that Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has told the club he wants to leave.

The 26 year old has been heavy linked for a move to Old Trafford this summer and Jose Mourinho has made it clear that the Frenchman is his number one target.

Griezmann has played 69 times this season scoring an impressive 35 goals. He has a release clause of £86 million which United have already said they are willing to meet.

He has proved himself to be one of the best players in Europe over the last number of years. The Frenchman was also the top scorer at Euro 2016 with six goals, which was double the amount of goals of the second placed scorer.

Antonio Ruiz, a journalist who covers Atletico Madrid, told radio station Deportes COPE: "Griezmann has transmitted it to the noble zone of the club that he wants to leave".

When asked about United's pursuit of Griezmann, Mourinho said on Sky Sports: "I have no idea. You have to ask Ed Woodward.

"He knows since March who I want, what I want, how much I want - he knows everything since March.

"And now it's for him to work because he will have holidays in August, and in August I am working."
