Michael Conlan has made the trip from sunny California to the east coast ahead of his professional debut later this week.
The former World Amateur Champion begins his career in the paid ranks on Friday night, when he fights Tim Ibarra in the Madison Square Garden Theatre. Conlan's debut will headline the card.
Now basing himself in California, the Belfast fighter arrived in New York on Sunday night, with his manager Matthew Macklin. Five years ago Macklin fought in the same venue, on the same night, against Sergio Martinez.
Conlan plans to fight in Ireland each year, but will be based in America for the foreseeable future. "We'll be based here on the West Coast - training, sparring, doing all that stuff - and then most of our fights will be East Coast and worldwide", he told Off the Ball last week. "Vegas is somewhere definitely we'll box; Chicago, Boston, Belfast, Dublin. We'll be hitting all Irish kind of places."
