Former Irish underage international makes England debut

Michael Keane made his debut for England on Wednesday night, in the 1-0 loss to Germany in Dortmund.

The former Manchester United defender, joined Burnley in 2014, after spending his youth career with the Old Trafford club. The defender played four times for the Republic of Ireland, at Under-17 and Under-19 levels, before switching allegiances to his home land.

Despite being a twin, Keane's brother Will never played for Ireland, despite the duo playing through the underage levels at Manchester United. Will is currently a striker at Hull City, after leaving United in August.

This season at Burnley, Keane has impressed in the Premier League. He has started all 29 games for the team as Sean Dyche's side currently lie in 13th place and look set for consecutive seasons in the top tier for the first time since 1976. 

The 24-year-old has been linked with a return to Manchester United, such has been his impressive form this season. Liverpool have also reportedly shown interest in the defender.

England play Lithuania on Sunday afternoon in a World Cup qualifier, where Keane could earn his second cap.
