Crawley Town appoint Harry Kewell as head coach

Former Liverpool and Leeds United midfielder Harry Kewell has been appointed Crawley Town's new head coach.

The Australian, who is currently working on his UEFA Pro License coaching qualification, had been in charge of the Watford U23 side before he left the position earlier this year.

Kewell is best known for his time in the Premier League between both Leeds United and Liverpool football clubs. The 38-year-old featured in both of Liverpool's Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007.

Having appeared in two World Cups for Australia, Kewell played 56 times for his country and scored 17 goals.

He went on to play for Turkish club Galatasaray in 2008 before returning to Australia to sign for Melbourne Victory in 2011.

Kewell also lined out for Melbourne Heat and had a short spell wtih Qatar Stars League with Al Gharafa.

"During his interview Harry showed us great passion - that's need to make this team move onwards," said Crawley Town director of football Selim Gaygusuz.

The club will hold a news conference this Friday following the announcement.
