Claudio Ranieri gets the dreaded 'vote of confidence'

Premier League champions have taken the unusual step in publicising their "unwavering support" towards Claudio Ranieri.

The Italian manager led Leicester City to their first league title in the club's history last season. Despite impressing in their Champions League debut, Leicester's title defence has been poor.

After 24 games, Leicester lie in 16th place on 21 points, having lost four games in a row. At the same stage last season, Leicester were on 50 points, three clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

The team have lost four Premier League games in a row, have have not scored a league goal in 2017. Islam Slimani's goal against West Ham on December 31st was the last time Leicester scored and won a game.

The clue released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, stating their full support towards the amiable Italian.

"In light of recent speculation, Leicester City Football Club would like to make absolutely clear its unwavering support for its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri."

"While there is a collective appreciation from everyone at the Club that recent form needs to improve, the unprecedented success achieved in recent seasons has been based firmly on stability, togetherness and determination to overcome even the greatest of challenges."

"The entire Club is and will remain united behind its manager and behind its players, collectively and firmly focused on the challenges ahead."

Leicester play Derby County in a FA Cup Fourth Round Replay on Wednesday night, before a Premier League match against Swansea City on Sunday.
