As many as 60% of club players don't support the latest Super 8 reform and 72% are in favour of an unchangeable fixtures calendar, according to figures released by the Club Players Association this afternoon.
Almost another 28% (27.7%) of players said they were unsure of the Super 8 proposal, leaving just 12% to vote in favour of the change.
The survey, which claims to have been completed by 4,983 of the association's members, offers an interesting insight into the opinions of the club players following the recent GAA Congress.
There, a number of motions were passed including the controversial 'Super 8' Championship restructure.
This will do away with the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final and instead would see the eight teams divided into two groups of four. Last month it passed with a 76% majority.

Players were asked to vote on the three most desirable improvements that the GAA should consider and they responded:
- An unchangeable & predictable fixtures schedule (71.78% - 3,577 votes)
- Regular games during the summer (45.57% - 2,271 votes)
- A defined holiday period (40.92% - 2,039 votes)
Among the other responses specified were:
- 'Time off to relax not starting early in the year being able to live a life outside of football'
- 'More compact club championship from the first game to the last'
- 'A working set of guidelines/infrastructure for regular communication between county boards, club committees and their club members. Club members need a mobile method of bottom up communication as well as top down'
Most players said that they did attend an AGM at their club (81.54%), but fewer have attended a committee
meeting at their club (66.67%).
