Brendan Rodgers: It's an honour to be named alongside Jock Stein and Martin O'Neill

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is humbled to be named alongside the club's great managers after achieving a domestic treble in his first season in charge.

The Glasgow side beat Aberdeen 2-1 in a frenetic match at Hampden Park on Saturday, where a last-gasp Tom Rogic goal capped a remarkable season for Rodgers' charges.

As well as winning all three domestic trophies, they went the entire season unbeaten in Scotland.

Speaking after Saturday's win, the Irishman said: "Winning the treble is a very difficult thing to do but to have achieved it in the first season, alongside everything else that we’ve done, is very humbling.

"I still get a funny feeling when I hear my name mentioned, as Jock was a real pioneer with the club, and Martin did an incredible job here.

“But history will judge me because I’ve only just begun here. It’s been truly enjoyable and it’s a privilege to manage the club. It’s a real special feeling," he added.

Rodgers joins Jock Stein and Martin O'Neill as the only managers in the club's history to win the domestic treble.

The legendary Stein accomplished the feat twice; in 1967 and 1969, while the current Republic of Ireland manager brought all three trophies to Celtic Park in 2001.
