Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he is sorry to see Mark Warburton leave Rangers.
The former Brentford boss departed Ibrox in controversial circumstances.
Warburton is disputing the club's claim he, his assistant David Weir and the club's head of recruitment Frank McParland resigned.
On Wednesday, a statement was released through the League Managers Association, in which Warburton gave his side of the story and disputed the claim that he had resigned.
"Given that the club has seen fit to make detailed public statements, it is important that we should clarify certain matters and as such we would like to formally place on record, that at no stage did we resign from our positions at Rangers," said the statement.
"It is a matter of surprise to us, and to the League Managers Association (LMA), which is advising all three of us, that despite its detailed public statements, the club has not answered key questions put to it by the LMA, in writing, requesting an explanation of why it suggested that we resigned from our positions."
Rodgers says his former counterpart has done a good job in his season-and-a-half at the Scottish Premiership side.
"I think it is worth pointing out when he played Celtic not that long ago, everyone was lauding the job he had done," he said.
"He came into a club where Ally McCoist had been in before, a legend of the club and a good guy.
"So I find it disappointing that after this period of time that he ends up losing his job because he is an outstanding coach and all his interest and passion for Rangers was to make them the very best they could be under the circumstances they were in.
"So I feel for him, Davie Weir, a good guy and real Rangers legend. Those two guys along with Frank McParland, they wanted what was best for Rangers and it is sad to see them go."
