Gareth Bale wishes Ireland's Seamus Coleman a speedy recovery

Wales talisman Gareth Bale has wished Seamus Coleman a speedy recovery after the Ireland captain suffered a leg break in the two team's 0-0 draw.

Neither side could be separated in the 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.

But the game was marred by a nasty injury to Everton full back Coleman after a poor challenge from Wales left back Neil Taylor.

The nature of the injury had echoes of the one suffered by Bale's Wales team-mate Aaron Ramsey for Arsenal against Stoke in February 2010.

Speaking to Sky Sports at full time, Bale extended his best wishes to Coleman as the Donegal man begins the recovery process.

"Obviously we never wish that on anybody and obviously I don't know how bad it is but all of us wish him a speedy recovery," he said.

The Real Madrid star also shared his thoughts on a result that leaves Wales four points behind Serbia and Ireland at the halfway stage in the group.

"We knew they would probably set up like that with a low block and make it difficult for us to get on the ball. First half they definitely did that. Second half I thought we controlled the game very well. We created some good chances and I thought we were unlucky not to get the goal. But if you look at the last 20 minutes with 10 men and we're 0-0, a point is not the worst result. Obviously we're disappointed not to get the win."

Bale will miss Wales' next qualifier against Serbia after a yellow card for a challenge on John O'Shea while trying to get on the end of a ball and the winger added that "I didn't think it was a yellow to be honest".
