Athlone Town have announced that the departure of their manager Ricardo Monsanto.
The Midlands club says the parting of ways was "mutually agreed" and that the Portuguese coach would leave the role after failing to win any of the eight games of his tenure.
"The decision was arrived at following discussions between the club's board and Roberto, where recent on-field performances and results were discussed," said the club in a statement.
First team coach Ricardo Cravo will be in charge as caretaker boss for tonight's Airtricity League First Division match against Wexford at Lissywollen.
Athlone say they have already begun the search for Monsanto's permanent successor and hope to make an appointment in the next few days.
They are second from bottom of the First Division after eight games of the season, after winning two games and losing five.
They won their two league fixtures prior to the confirmation of Monsanto as manager on March 9th.
