Artem Lobov is taking no pleasure from his recent loss to Cub Swanson despite earning a "Fight of the Night" bonus for his part in the five-round war.
"The Russian Hammer" won the first round but Swanson took over once he gauged Lobov's speed and tactics.
Speaking on the MMA Hour earlier this week, the adopted Dubliner said: "To me, I was going into the fight to try and win, obviously. That’s why I called for the fight. And I generally thought that I could win. Obviously I didn’t, so I’m still trying to get over that."
Lobov went into his last fight after consecutive wins over Chris Avila and Teruto Ishihara and is looking to get back into the octagon soon and has targeted a bout with former Swanson foe, Dohoo Choi.
"The Korean Superboy" also partook in a losing effort against the American in another "Fight of the Night" slugfest which went down as one of the best fights of 2016.
The Dublin based fighter told Ariel Helwani that Choi is who he wants next, saying: "He was one of the guys that I called out originally. It was either him or Cub. Now we both lost to Cub, the two of us both went the distance, the two of us both got the Fight of the Night, so why not? It makes sense, no?"
Choi, the 13th ranked featherweight, currently isn't scheduled so the UFC may grant Lobov his request in the near future.
