Arsene Wenger: Lincoln City victory about accomplishment not relief

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal's victory over non-league Lincoln City yesterday in the FA Cup was more about the accomplishment than the relief of the result.

Arsenal come off the back of a 5-1 humiliation against Bayern Munich in the Champions League - crashing out of the competition 10-2 on aggregate - but the Frenchman says that his focus was only on winning the game and not restoring any pride from their midweek defeat.

"It was more than a relief, it was to have the feeling that we have done what we wanted to do," he told reporters after the game. "That's what I work for.

"I serve this club with commitment, integrity and loyalty as long as I am here. It's a shame that I cannot keep everybody happy. But we're now in a semi-final again in the FA Cup. If you count how many times I've been in there with the club, it's not too bad."

Asked whether or not he thinks that a win in FA Cup would 'save' his season, he said: "I don't think like that. I just try and get my team to perform in the next game and let people extrapolate. People always want to predict what will happen.

"I'm so long in the game, I cannot tell you what will happen. Many people know better than I do, but I just try and perform for the next game."

Tottenham face Millwall on Sunday afternoon, but Wenger says it matters not who progresses and who his side draw in the next round.

"I just want the draw without liking or not liking a team. You have to accept the draw you get."
