Andy Murray has suffered a shock third-round defeat at the Madrid Open on Thursday evening.
The world tennis number one was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by Croat youngster, Borna Coric.
The 20-year-old, ranked number 59 in the world, broke his opponent three times in the first set and just once in the second set to secure the win.
Coric added the scalp to his recent bout of good form, having won his first ATP Tour title in Morocco last month.
The result is a further blow to Murray's build-up for the French Open later this month.
He also made surprise early exits at Indian Wells and Monaco since coming back from an elbow injury.
Meanwhile, world number two Novak Djokovic reached the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Feliciano Lopez.
Having recently split up from his coaching staff ahead of the tournament in the Spanish capital, the Serb has picked up back-to-back victories.
