A first round match at the Miami Open between Tommy Haas and Jiri Vesely may not be one of the highlight reel.
Wednesday's match between the duo, was a little different though, as the players has to deal with an intruder on court. The match was halted due to an iguana entering the court at the Crandon Park venue.
The Miami Open takes place just outside the city in Key Biscayne. The venue is surrounded by the Florida marshes, giving the iguana easy access to the court.
During the third set, the match was briefly suspended as the players were unwilling to play, with the iguana standing on top of one of the scoreboards.
Haas even walked over to the animal to take one of the more unusual selfies of his career. before the iguana was eventually taken away from court.
"Maybe the iguana got the note that this is most likely the last time I'm playing here, and he wanted to say 'Hi' and take a peek or something,” joked Haas after the match. This is his last season on tour.
“I don't know, but it was pretty cool. Of that size, I don't think I've ever experienced that. I don't know where he came from and why he wanted to come out on Court 1 and kind of say hello to everyone.”
Vesely won the match 6-7, 6-3, 7-5.
