A look at the infamous "Bear Trap" ahead of the Honda Classic

The PGA Tour begins the Florida swing this week with the Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Springs County.

The field is led by defending champion Adam Scott and the in-form Justin Thomas which will also include 12 of the world's top 25 players.

The championship course at PGA National was redesigned by Jack Nichlaus and features the infamous three-hole stretch known as "The Bear Trap."

Regularly regarded as one of the toughest stretches of holes on Tour by players; the 15th, 16th and 17th at the Florida resort provide a gripping finale to each round played there.

Two par 3s either side of a narrow par 4 - all of which contain significant water hazards - offer the perfect combination of risk/reward golf which has led to dramatic conclusions over the years.

Since 2007, 76% of players have found the water over the three holes which ranks as the third toughest stretch on Tour over the last nine years.

Last year Adam Scott beat Sergio Garcia by one stroke to claim the title and both will tee off again this week.

2015 winner Padraig Harrington will also take part despite suffering from a slight pain in his neck which hindered his preformance at last weekend's Genesis Open.

The Irishman's record at "The Bear Trap" is one of the most consistent on tour, particularly on the par 3 15th. Of the last 20 rounds he's played on it, he's five-under par.

Seamus Power and Graeme McDowell are also in the field.
