'I haven't asked him if he's happy' | Rangnick on Ronaldo situation

Ralf Rangnick has dismissed rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo being unhappy at Manchester United.

The interim manager insists the Portuguese star is back in contention to play against Tottenham tomorrow.

Ronaldo missed last week's loss to Manchester City due to a hip flexor injury.

However, reports surfaced that Ronaldo's unhappiness at the current situation at the club may have been the reason he missed the derby.

Roy Keane was among those to question his absence, suggesting that the injury explanation didn't 'add up'.

Rangnick was asked whether the 37-year-old was happy at the club at his pre-match press conference today.

“I haven't asked him if he's happy at Manchester, at this club, he's fit again, resumed training yesterday and we shall see which formation we will line up with tomorrow," Rangnick said.

“He resumes training yesterday, did the whole training session and he trained well like the rest of the group.

“I expect him to train today. I would've thought he was available tomorrow.

“What is important is what happens tomorrow. Not to go through all this. He and Edinson Cavani are both available for tomorrow."

Rangnick was less positive on the availability of other players, including Luke Shaw.

"With regard to players, we will still miss out Luke Shaw,"

"He's, until yesterday, being tested positive with Covid, and Scotty is a question mark, he had some problems with his calf so we have to wait and see until after training today.

"But, right now, it is more likely that he will not be available because if we risk him tomorrow, he will more likely be out for the game on Tuesday.

"That's why I tend, with muscular issues - even more so if it's the calf muscle - I tend to be careful."

Tomorrow's game at Old Trafford kicks off at 5.30pm.
