"Our work-rate wasn't at the level required" - John Kiely primed for Munster Hurling final

Limerick hurling manager John Kiely feels his side "came up short" against Tipperary last time out as they prepare to meet again in the Munster Hurling final.

The All-Ireland champions lost by a four point margin two weeks ago in Thurles.

Kiely and centre-back Declan Hannon spoke to Valerie Wheeler in Limerick today and the manager feels work-rate is one area to improve from last time.

"It's been a mixed Munster Championship all-round," he admitted.

"There have been some great performances by teams but some other mixed performances. And we're no different as a team.

Hard Going

"We had a poor performance against Cork and we had to bite back over the two matches subsequent to that. I think the last day, we just came up short a little bit.

"But then we were probably feeling a little bit... the three games in the two weeks is hard going. We had to make some rotations but all told I still would've been happy with the effort of the lads.

"They really put in a big shift for us on the day but we have to up it significantly now for the next day."

He added of the Tipp game, "Our work-rate wasn't at the level that's required. Simple as that. Tipp out-worked us all over the pitch really and if we're going to give ourselves a chance on Sunday, we're going to have to get that right."
