Ger Cush denies report that Jack Guiney has been dropped from the Wexford Hurling panel

Wexford were beaten 2-23 to 0-15 by Limerick in their opening encounter in the NHL's Division 1B. Manager Liam Dunne was forced to drop Jack Guiney from his initial starting fifteen due to a hamstring complaint and selector Ger Cush denied rumours that the Rathnure man is no longer involved with the panel.

Liam Dunne was unavailable for comment after the game but Ger Cush answered questions for the waiting media. In response to whether or not Guiney had been dropped from the panel, he answered "Jack's part of the plans, at the moment, anyway. It's just the hamstring problem and we will see how it goes in the next week."

The 22-year old was dropped prior to the Leinster semi-final against Kilkenny last year for a breach of team discipline following a night out after the side's win over Westmeath and has been at the centre of rumours this week.

Wexford play Clare next Sunday at Innovate Wexford Park and will surely need to bounce back with a win if they are to consider promotion a real possibility heading into the last three games of the league.
