Goals from Pat Hoban and Michael Duffy helped Dundalk to a 2-1 win at home to SSE Airtricity Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers.
The goal was Hoban's 70th for the Lilywhites, breaking a record held by Joey Donnelly since 1943.
That defeat, Rovers' second of the week, reduces their lead to four-points with Dundalk and Bohemians both having a game in hand.
Dundalk coach Vinny Perth spoke to Off The Ball's Enda Coll after the game.
Bohs, however, drop to third after behing held to a scoreless draw by Waterford at Dalymount.
Cork City's woeful season continues - they had Conor McCormack sent off in a 2-0 defeat away to Derry.

And bottom side Finn Harps drew 1-1 away to Sligo.
Cabinteely remain top of the First Division despite being held to a 1-1 draw away to Bray.
