Pep Guardiola's Manchester City team came away with a point after drawing 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield.
Guardiola's men conceded goals to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as the latter put on a world-class display.
Phil Foden was the star for Guardiola's side.
Foden ran James Milner ragged. He repeatedly beat the make-shift defender on the left-wing, showing his pace to get in behind of him and his movement to take advantage of his poor positioning. Foden's goal came when Milner was caught ball watching inside.
Late in the first half, Milner was booked when he dragged Foden down after being caught out of position.
He should have received a second yellow card midway through the second half when he clearly tripped up Bernardo Silva. Milner was withdrawn minutes later before Salah scored to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead. Guardiola expressed his displeasure with the referee at the time, receiving a booking of his own.
When asked by Sky Sports after the game, Guardiola kept his comments short.
"It's a yellow card," he said.
"It's a yellow card, too much clear. But it's Anfield. It's Old Trafford. In this situation, a City player is sent off. 100%...it was a second yellow card."
The suggestion that Manchester City didn't get the card because they were playing against one of the other top teams in the league will likely draw criticism from the FA. But Guardiola is right in that it was clearly a yellow card.
His reaction at the time drew a reaction from the crowd. But Guardiola said he had no problem with anything that was said or done to him.
Instead, there was an issue with a fan and a member of Guardiola's backroom team.
Guardiola took the opportunity to praise the Liverpool fan base at large, the club itself and the experience of playing at Anfield.
"I don't know. I don't know what happened.
"I heard someone from the crowd say something not nice towards our staff but I don't know exactly, I didn't see the images. I'm pretty sure if what the people told me happened Liverpool FC will take appropriate measures with this person. Liverpool is much, much greater than this behaviour."
"It's certain people, not just Liverpool FC. It's always a pleasure to come to the stadium so it's an honour for this atmosphere and how they support the team in their circumstances.
"When they score a goal and you're there for the next five minutes thinking we are losing 5-0.
"The way they cheer up and the way they support the team is great. That's why it's Anfield."
Guardiola will likely have won over more Liverpool fans than you'd have expected with these comments.
Jurgen Klopp is on par with Bill Shankly as the voice of Liverpool.
