There was a WBA belt on the line last night in Manchester but who knew that a few coppers were also at stake between two iconic athletes.
Several people will be pocketing a few punts this morning for correctly choosing to back Carl Frampton and golfer Rory McIlroy is among those to make a profit.
McIlroy stood by his fellow country man in a bet with Wayne Rooney who was rooting for Manchester fighter Scott Quigg.
Frampton won on points in the end and it later transpired that Quigg broke his jaw in the fourth round which required surgery this morning.
Rooney offered his support to the injured fighter while McIlroy wasted no time in reminding the United striker of his obligations to cough up the cash.
All the best @scottquigg tonight. Hope you do it mate
