It has been a disappointing morning for Irish athletes in Beijing as both Ciara Everard and Ben Reynolds failed to advance from their heats.
The UCD athlete Everard competed this morning in the 800 metres heats, but failed to advance to the semi finals. Everard finished in seventh place in a time of 2:03:98, over two seconds outside her personal best.
Down's Ben Reynolds ran in the 100 metres hurdles and he also finished seventh in his heat. Reynolds ran a time of 13.72, just outside his personal best.
Later today, Kelly Proper competes in the 200 metres heats. She runs in the fifth heat which also contains American Jeneba Tarmoh who finished fifth in the World Championships two years ago. Those heats begin at 12.15pm Irish time.
