Johanna Konta and Andy Murray have both reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier this morning. The wins ensure that Britain has two players in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in almost 40 years.
Australian-born Konta, who is playing in the Australian Open for the first time defeated Chinese qualifier Shuai Zhang in straight sets to reach the semi-finals. The 24-year-old who is currently ranked 47th in the World defeated her opponent 6-4 6-1.

Konta is the lowest ranked player left in the Women's draw. She now faces Germany's Angelique Kerber in the semi-finals.
While Konta's run has surprised many, Andy Murray's place in the semi-finals was expected with the experts and fans alike. The Scottish Number Two seed defeated Spain's David Ferrer in four sets to reach his sixth Australian Open.
Ferrer was the only player left in the tournament not to drop a set on the way to the quarter-finals but he lost the first set 6-3 to Murray. The Spaniard won the second set in a tie-break before Murray won the final two to book a place in the semi-finals against Gael Monfils or Milos Raonic.
