The slow and steady return of live sporting action continues tonight as Rory McIlroy and some other golfing heavyweights clash in Florida.
Irish world number one McIlroy, the only non-American golfer involved, is teaming up with former world number one Dustin Johnson - currently ranked fifth - to take on Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff.
The charity skins match is taking place at the Seminole Golf Club at Juno Beach with up to $4m being raised to go towards charities nominated by the players.
Fowler and Wolff have nominated the CDC Foundation while the American Nurses Foundation have been nominated by Johnson and McIlroy who is relishing the opportunity to play again while raising money for worthwhile causes.
"What we're doing is a great thing," said McIlroy.
"It's a very small piece of all of this but I'm just happy to be able to help in some way and bring some joy to people I guess, when they haven't had anything to really look forward to in a couple of months."
It will be the first live golf event to take place since the coronavirus pandemic forced the shutdown of sports around the world.
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Golf will screen the 18 holes with NBC broadcasting it across America. Coverage begins at 7pm.
"It’s been difficult to witness what so many are enduring over the last several weeks due to the Covid-19 pandemic," added McIlroy.
"I hope that we can provide some respite and entertainment for those tuning in across the globe. Dustin and I will have a lot of fun together and our games will fit well as we push to raise funds and awareness."
The event has been sanctioned by the PGA and commissioner Jay Monahan who is delighted to see the sport return in some form.
"We are excited about the safe and responsible return of live golf and the opportunity to raise significant funds for those on the front lines of the Covic-19 pandemic," said Monahan.
"With four of the PGA TOUR's top stars in Rory, Rickie, Dustin and Matthew of Team TaylorMade participating… fans around the world can look forward to a unique, interactive and entertaining event that will help those in need."
