Should Barry Bonds be given a place in Baseball's Hall of Fame?

Barry Bonds is one of the most divisive people in American sports.

The former baseball player has hit more home runs in his career that any other player in Major League Baseball history. The 762 home runs is a record that is unlikely to be ever beaten. He also has the single-season home run record after hitting 73 homers in the 2010 season.

Bonds was one of the stars of baseball's steroid era but never failed a drugs test. He was part of the infamous BALCO scandal of the early 2000's and was found guilty of obstruction of justice charges in 2011 during a perjury case. That was overturned last year.

The former Pittsburgh and San Francisco player returned to baseball last week as the hitting coach of the Miami Marlins. Bond's reintegration into the game since last playing in 2007 has opened up questions about whether he should be entered into Baseball's Hall of Fame.

ESPN's Mark Fainaru-Wada spoke to Off the Ball on Tuesday night about Bonds and says there is a very reasoned argument why Bonds will not enter the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

He told Off the Ball about the history of Bonds in the early 2000's and how the story broke of his alleged drug usage. "I think he's going to get questions obviously", Fainaru-Wada added about Bonds' return to the game but he expects them to lessen once the season begins.

Bonds told members of the press last weekend that he knows he is worthy of a place in the Hall of Fame. Whether he ends up in the famed building in Cooperstown remains to be seen.
